6. Configuration

TestIT Configuration

The configuration service allows you to create, update, and delete symbols. It is also possible to configure devices, make application configuration, and setting up the license.

An overview of configuration:


Options

  • TestIT Home button Home - go back to home screen
  • Application Configuration Application configuration - go to application configuration
  • Symbol Handling Symbol handling - go to symbol handling


6.1 Symbol handling

Select the symbol handling button and the symbols will be shown. In symbol handling it is possible to edit, delete, and create symbols. Some of the symbols are special symbols.

Options:

6.1.1 Add symbol

Add symbol:

  1. Press the Add symbol text in the functions window
  2. Fill in the required and the wanted optional information
  3. Press OK – or Cancel and the user will not be created

The required information:

  • Symbol type
  • Symbol name

The optional information is:

  • Comment – A symbol description
  • Unit – This type of the data etc.; Bar, pa, mm.
  • Default value – It will be the value of the symbol at each program start
  • Program symbol – Select if it can be used as a program symbol (Program symbols)
  • Format – Depending on the symbol type. Look at Symbol formatting to see which format to select

6.1.1.1 Description of symbol types and symbol names

Symbol name:

The allowed characters are 0-9, A-Z, $, _, no spaces, max 50 characters. See the table of defining symbol names

6.1.1.2 Symbol formatting

6.1.2 Edit and delete symbol

Edit symbol:

  1. Select the Edit symbol on the line with the wanted symbol
  2. Make the wanted changes
  3. Press OK – or Cancel and the changes will not be saved

Delete symbol:

  1. Press the Trash symbol on the line with the wanted symbol
  2. A box will be shown; select Yes to accept or No if not

6.1.3 Special symbols

The special symbols are normally used together with I/O’s. The special symbols are:

  • Start symbol – Works together with the START button in production
  • Stop symbol – Works together with the STOP button in production
  • Emergency stop symbol – Works together with the emergency stop button on the machine
  • Retest symbol – Works together with the RETEST button in production
  • Pause symbol – Will immediately stop the running code. When it is free again it will continue running the code
  • Reset NOK symbol – Works together with the RETEST button in production

Add a special symbol (is the same for all the special symbols):

  1. Select the wanted special symbol and it will show a window
  2. Press the green Add symbol
  3. Select the symbol name
  4. Select the trigger value
  5. Press Save – or Cancel and the symbol will not be added

Remove a special symbol (is the same for all the special symbols):

  1. Select the wanted special symbol and it will show a window
  2. Press the red remove symbol on the line with the wanted symbol
  3. Press Save, and the symbol is removed

6.2 Application configuration

Press the application configuration button to setup the license. It is also possible to create more setups.

6.2.1 Production

The production functions make it possible to create some settings for

  • Batch
  • Icons
  • System buttons

They will be explained below.

6.2.1.1 Batch

Batch is the structure of the batch number used in the production and results can be selected.

Create a batch: The first space named Batch example will show what the batch configuration will look like.

  1. Select the date format
  2. Select the split character, which is the split character between date and running number
  3. Select the counter length of the count number
  4. Select if it can use date as default (NB, if the mark is removed, the operator will be prompted for a batch number when a new production is starting)
  5. Press Save and the batch configuration will be saved

6.2.1.2 Icons

Icons is the icon to show if an object is tested as bad or good. It can be configurated.

Create an icon configuration:

  1. Select the success icon (it will show an example)
  2. Select the failed icon (it will show an example)
  3. Press Save and the icon configuration will be saved

6.2.1.3 System buttons

System buttons is where the setup of the buttons take place.

Create a system button:

  1. Press the New button
  2. Enter the button values (see the button values below)
  3. Press Save, and the button is saved

Button values:

  • On text – When the symbol value is 1, the text “light on” will be active
  • On tooltip – When the symbol value is 1, the text “turn of the light” will be active
  • Off text – When the symbol value is 0, the text “light off” will be active
  • Off tooltip – When the symbol value is 0, the text “turn on the light” will be active
  • On color – When the symbol value is 1, the button frame color will be the selected color
  • Off color – When the symbol value is 0, the button frame color will be the selected color
  • Password – If the button control needs to be protected by password, type the password text. If blank, no password is needed
  • Symbol name – Select the symbol name to control with the button
  • Active – The button is only visible when active is marked
  • Order – Set the number where the button will be placed

Edit a system button:

  1. Select the wanted system button to the right
  2. Make the wanted changes
  3. Press Save, and the changes will be saved

Delete a system button:

  1. Select the wanted system button to the right
  2. Press Delete, and the button is deleted

6.2.2 License

License makes it possible to insert a new license. This can be needed if the configuration needs to be changed; then a new license can be filled in.

NB! After this the application must be restarted.

6.2.3 Application

Application make it possible to create some settings about

  • Reset layout
  • Show/Hide Elements
  • Documentation
  • Manual
  • Error log

This will be explained below

6.2.3.1 Reset layout

Reset layout makes it possible to reset the layout for pages that can be changed by the users. The areas to reset are:

  • Tile View
  • Production View
  • Debug View
  • Program editor

Reset a layout:

  1. Press the Reset button to the right

6.2.3.2 Show/Hide Elements

Show/hide elements makes it possible to configurate the elements which will be available in the applications.

Show/Hide element:

  1. Select to show or deselect to hide in the show area
  2. Press Update

6.2.3.3 Documentation

Documentation will show the path to a folder. The folder is for all the wanted documents.

Create documentation:

  1. Select the folder where the documentation is placed
  2. Select shows the documentation folder, and the selected folder will be shown at the main menu
  3. Press Save
  4. Press Get files, and the files placed in the selected folder will be shown

6.2.3.4 Manual

Manual makes it possible to select where the manual is placed.

6.2.3.5 Error log

In error log, the errors will be shown. For example if TestIT shows an error, it will be in error log.

6.2.4 Database

Database makes it possible to create some settings for:

  • Backup
  • Select database
  • Delete results
  • Delete SQL data log

This will be explained below

6.2.4.1 Backup

Backup makes it possible to set up a daily backup and to save the entire database on a selected disk.

Setup a backup (is the same for setup and production database):

A ‘onetime’ backup:

  1. Select where the database .bak file should be saved, and select whether it should be the default folder
  2. Select the name of the backup
  3. Press backup and it will create a backup

An auto backup:

  1. Select where the database .bak file should be saved, and select whether it should be the default folder
  2. Select the name of the backup
  3. Mark the auto backup setup database
  4. Select time of the backup procedure. Please consider when production had used the PC last
  5. Select the Save behavior of how many wanted backups
  6. Press Save

6.2.4.2 Select database

In select database, the options are:

  • Select new setup database on next startup – If this is marked it will be possible to change setup database after a restart of TestIT
  • Select new production database on next startup – If this is marked it will be possible to change production database after a restart of TestIT

After a mark, the system has to restart before the system requires a new database setup.

6.2.4.3 Delete results

Delete results makes it possible to see the results and delete them.

Filter data:

  1. Select the wanted filter headline
  2. Now it is filtered

Switch to demo results:

  1. Press the Demo button at the right corner
  2. The results will switch between demo results database (debug area) and the results database (production).

Delete results (both results and demo results):

  1. Select the wanted data
  2. Press the Delete results button in the left corner, and the results will be deleted

6.2.4.4 Delete SQL data log

Delete SQL data log make it possible to see the SQL data log and delete it. Delete SQL data log:

  1. Select the wanted data
  2. Press the Delete button at the left corner, and the data will be deleted

6.2.5 User

User makes it possible to create some settings for:

  • User configuration

6.2.5.1 User configuration

In user configuration, it is possible to select the minimum length of the user name and the password.\\ Write the number of the wanted length and press Save.

6.3 Devices

Devices make it possible to setup, configure, and test the different devices. All the devices are explained below. To see a code example and the parameters of the commands, just follow the links.

Create a device:

  1. Follow the instructions of the wanted device in the following sections

Edit a device:

  1. Select the wanted device
  2. Press the Edit symbol
  3. Make the wanted changes
  4. Press Save – or Cancel and the changes will not be saved

Delete a device:

  1. Select the wanted device
  2. Press the Trash and accept
